A carrier you'll want to leave out.

Handwoven one at a time from natural rattan by experienced craftspeople in Indonesia, the home of rattan, using techniques passed down through the trade. The fan-pattern weave spreading across both sides, and the composed line of the leather belt - between them, they give this carrier the quality &CAT looks for.
Because natural material is being worked by hand, there is variation between pieces and a slight roughness in places. That is exactly what mass production doesn't give you. The more you use it, the more it takes on the character of something vintage.
It's a tool for going out, but the rest of the time it's a bed, and simply left in the room it becomes part of the room. Something you display rather than store away stays with you far longer.

A fan-pattern weave on both sides.

What gives this carrier its face is the fan-pattern weave set into both side panels. Arcs radiating out from the center - a fine piece of work only an experienced weaver can produce, and the thing that separates it from ordinary rattan.
That weave is also a window your cat can look out of. It lets air and light through, so even on the move they can still read what's going on outside.

It closes with a leather belt.

Against the softness of the rattan, the leather belt adds a composed note. Turn the fastening and slip the belt off, and the whole thing opens wide. It holds firmly, so there is nothing to worry about while you're carrying it. The leather deepens in color and gloss with use, gaining character alongside the rattan.

Each one is finished by hand in Indonesia, the home of rattan, by experienced craftspeople working in the traditional way. The fineness of the weave and the warmth in it are things no machine produces, and every piece carries its own.

Light enough to actually carry.

Around 44 × 30 × 35.5 cm (17.3 × 11.8 × 14 in), weighing about 1.9 kg (4.2 lb). The interior is generous, taking anything from a kitten up to a large cat of around 8 kg (17.6 lb). Light enough that a trip to the vet or a day out isn't a burden on either of you.

Carrying the rattan carrier

A bed most days, a carrier when you need one.

Lay the included cushion inside and it becomes a bed to relax in at home. Not just for going out, but as an everyday spot - one object doing two jobs.
And because your cat is already used to sleeping in it, the day it matters goes better. An unfamiliar carrier is a source of tension; being carried out in the bed they already know makes the vet visit, or the trip, a much calmer thing.
The cushion cover is handwoven fabric and can be washed by hand, so it stays clean.

• Because every bag is woven by hand, the size and the shape vary a little from one to the next.
• Color shifts a little between production runs, and natural materials always show some unevenness in tone.
• Because it is woven by hand, the weave will not be perfectly uniform throughout.
• The leather parts take on a patina as you use them, deepening in color and softening with time.
• Product photos are edited to come as close to the real colors as we can, but the shade you see may differ depending on your monitor settings and the lighting in your room.
