Choosing a TOG Scratcher by Your Cat's Personality

Have you assumed a scratcher is something you put up with, at the cost of how the room looks? It is part of life with a cat, so it ends up somewhere you see every day. Choose for function and it clashes with the room; choose for looks and the cat ignores it. &CAT's TOG series was born to dissolve that dilemma. TOG Arc, TOG Wave, TOG Next — three shapes, because the scratcher that feels right depends on a cat's personality and how it spends its days. This article is about finding the one that suits yours.

TOG scratchers in a living room

Different shapes, same principles.

The shapes differ, but what the TOG series cares about does not.

Designed to belong in your room
We aimed for a piece that does not look like pet supplies — something you can leave in the living room as it is. Every model comes in two colours: a bright, clean white, and a black that gives the space definition.

A material that leaves little debris
Dense Japanese corrugated board means fewer of the fine shavings that scatter after a session, so the floor around it stays easier to keep clean.

Two usable sides, built to last
Both faces can be used, so when one side wears down you turn it over for another run. Replacements come around less often.

Carefully made in Japan
From the glued faces to the finished corners, each piece is completed one at a time.

What separates the three is which of your cat's preferences they answer. Here is each one.

TOG Arc

For the cat that climbs and burrows
TOG Arc

TOG Arc is the most three-dimensional model in the series, folding resting, playing and scratching into a single form.

The defining feature is the hollow tunnel through the middle. Cats go through it, hide in it, press themselves into the narrow space — it speaks straight to the instinct. Rest on top, scratch on the outside, play in the tunnel: one object becomes several places to be, which suits a curious, active cat. You look over and find a face peering out at you from the tunnel. That, too, is daily life with an Arc.

Built entirely from curves, it sits as quietly as an object. It is a piece you want on display, not only a scratcher.

Who it suits ── Playful cats that like high places and tight spaces. People who want a scratcher they can leave in plain sight.

TOG Wave

For the cat that sleeps curled up
TOG Wave

TOG Wave wraps a scratcher and a bed into one form, and is the most compact model in the series.

The gentle wave-shaped hollow fits the body of a cat curled up to sleep. Scratch, then sink straight into it and doze — that is the kind of time it creates.

At about 59 cm wide and only about 14 cm high, it slips onto a cabinet top or into a gap by the window. It is also the easiest model to start with.

Who it suits ── Cats that love to sleep. People short on space, or choosing their first one.

TOG Next

For the strong, frequent scratcher
TOG Next

TOG Next is the durable model, built stronger than Arc and Wave.

It uses high-strength Japanese K7 corrugated board, laminated sheet by sheet, so it holds up to daily scratching without collapsing. Both sides are usable, with a guide life of about one year*. Of the whole series, this is the one designed above all to last.

Debris is barely noticeable, which is particular to Next. The smooth curve follows the cat's body, so after a thorough session it can settle straight down onto it — and the shape takes that, day after day, without sagging.

Who it suits ── Cats that scratch hard. Multi-cat homes where things wear out fast, and anyone who wants to replace less often.

*Service life varies with the cat's size, how often it scratches and how hard.

The three at a glance

Comparison of TOG Arc, TOG Wave and TOG Next

Still deciding?

For a first one, Wave goes anywhere. For a playful cat, Arc. For a strong, frequent scratcher, Next.

And if you are torn between Arc and Wave — TOG Set combines the two at about 15% less than buying them separately. Two shapes at different heights give a cat somewhere to go depending on its mood. It works well in multi-cat homes too.

A scratcher is something a cat touches every day. That is reason enough to match the shape to what it likes. The TOG series is here to settle life with a cat, quietly.
