A cat lowering its face to a bowl - a small gesture that turns out to be worth watching. TONOA exists to make that moment better looking, and easier on them. The design is minimal: bowls sitting neatly into a footed wooden stand, with black-painted legs tightening the outline and setting a modern shadow against the warmth of the wood.

Mino ware porcelain, finished properly.

The bowls are Mino ware porcelain, worked through to the rim and the wall thickness. Gentle where a cat's mouth meets them, and tough enough for daily use.

Solid wood, built by furniture makers.

The stand is solid oak or walnut, finished one at a time by furniture makers in Japan. The fine work that brings out the grain is where the craft shows. Color and sheen deepen with use, so the material develops the way a piece of furniture does.

Built for every day.

The top surface is melamine laminate, which resists water and staining. After a meal, a quick wipe is all it takes. The bowls lift out and go in the dishwasher or the microwave - washing, warming and putting back all happen without friction.

A height that's kind to your cat.

The dimensions are set to hold a natural posture, keeping the load off the neck and joints. The weight that comes with solid wood adds to the stability, so meals stay settled.

Oak or walnut.

Oak reads soft and light; walnut has a deeper, more settled tone. Scandinavian, Japanese-modern, minimal - either one sits quietly in the room, and your cat's table becomes part of the interior.

Before you bring one home

◎ Cleaning: the bowls wash fully, and are dishwasher and microwave safe.
◎ Spills: the melamine top wipes clean, so it stays hygienic with daily use.
◎ Stability: no non-slip feet are included, but the weight of the solid wood keeps it reasonably well planted. It may still move depending on your flooring and how it's used. If that bothers you, a thin mat or a felt pad underneath works well.

Care & Cautions

• It arrives fully assembled. Nothing to put together.
• The wood is solid, so the color, the grain and the knots differ from one piece to the next.
• In direct sunlight or a very dry room, the color may shift and the wood may warp slightly.
• Water will stain and discolor solid wood. Wipe it with a cloth wrung out well, then go over it with a dry cloth.
• Re-oiling the wood about once a year with a standard furniture oil keeps the finish looking its best. Do not oil the top surface the bowl sits on - that panel is melamine-faced.
• The bowl is porcelain (Mino ware). You may see variation in the glaze, small black specks, or pinholes - tiny pinprick-sized dots in the glaze surface. These come from minerals in the clay and the glaze reacting to the heat of the kiln. They are not dirt, and they are not faults.
• Every piece is made by hand, so shape, dimensions and color vary slightly even within the same product.
• Ceramic can crack or chip if it takes a hard knock.
• Stop using a piece that is chipped or cracked - it can cause injury.
• Do not scrub with metal scourers, powdered cleansers or hard sponges. They will scratch the surface.
• Your cat may scratch the wood and leave marks in the surface.
• Product photos are edited to come as close to the real colors as we can, but the shade you see may differ depending on your monitor settings and the lighting in your room.
• Specifications and appearance may change without notice as we make improvements.
