The 14 cm height is worked out so a cat can drink with its posture intact - no load on the neck or joints, and gentle on senior cats. A solid walnut base finished by craftspeople in Hida-Takayama, and a Mino ware porcelain bowl. Two materials sitting quietly together, turning the plain business of drinking water into something worth having in the room.

A bowl on the floor pulls the neck down, and that load lands on the body every time they drink. At 14 cm, cats from kittens to seniors can drink with their posture intact.

Shallow and wide, so whiskers stay clear.

14.5 cm across and 4.5 cm deep - shallow and open enough that the face never goes too far in, and whiskers stay off the rim. It takes a small daily irritation out of drinking.

A generous 500 ml, for days they're alone.

Around 500 ml. Enough margin for a day at home alone, or for a cat that drinks a lot, and it covers households with one or two cats. It also takes around 200 g of dry food, so it works as a food bowl.

The base is solid walnut from Akita prefecture, hand-finished by craftspeople in Hida-Takayama. Set against Mino ware porcelain, the warmth of the wood and the clarity of the ceramic settle naturally into a home.
