Shifting, with the light.

A glass food and water bowl made with glassblower Emi Nojiri.
The theme is the passing of time.
Morning, noon, night - each holds the light and shadow of its hour, and brings a slow change into the room.
The balance of the curves stacked one on the other, a height a cat can eat and drink from naturally, a capacity of around 350 ml.
It took repeated prototypes to find the shape where use and beauty hold together.

Morning | A bowl holding gentle light.

The color of pale light at the start of the day.
Opaque cream glass on a blue-green foot gives it the softness of quiet morning air.

Noon | A bowl full of sun.

Warm tones, as if the sunlight had been sealed inside.
Clear orange meets pale mint, and bubbles scattered like dots catch the light and glint.

Night | A bowl reflecting deep quiet.

Like darkness slowly settling, deep blue transparent glass and a brown foot draw a quiet contrast.
Bubbles glitter through it like stars, and under lamplight it reads like looking up into a night sky.

Living alongside the light.

Pick one up and the first things you notice are its soft warmth and the clarity of the surface. It has the waver that only blown glass has, while the stability against the foot has been properly worked out.
Morning light, midday glitter, the stillness of night. Whichever hour it belongs to, setting it down softens the air in a room. Use it as a bowl, or simply display it as an object. It puts a small poem into the time you spend with your cat.

Made in limited numbers, in each color.

No two pieces wear the same face. That shifting - utsuroi - is what hand-blown glass gives you.

Note: this is not heat-resistant glass. Boiling water or a sudden change inones may reduce or show variation in depth.
