A gentle rattan house.

Behind the weave, a softer kind of time. A pet house woven one strand at a time from natural rattan. The full, steady form, drawn in slightly at the waist, holds a quiet presence in a room and sits alongside your cat's rest without asking for anything.
The rattan is woven with the skin still on, so variations in tone, speckling and small burrs are all part of what a natural material is. It's light and it breathes, which makes it comfortable in any season. At around 2.5 kg it moves easily when you're cleaning or rearranging.
Inside are two cushions in a pale blue-grey, like thin cloud. They set off the rattan while adding a gentle color to where your cat settles. They can be hand washed, so keeping them clean is straightforward.
An 18 cm entrance opens into a 40 cm interior - roomy enough for a cat to curl up and sleep inside, and comfortable to sit on top of and watch the room. It suits households with more than one cat.
When nobody is using it, drop a blanket or something else into it and it still looks right. It settles naturally into Scandinavian-natural or Japanese-modern rooms alike.

Note: the rattan is used with its skin on, so individual strands differ in color and may show darkened areas or speckling.
Note: in places the enamel-like surface of the rattan has come away, looking almost like a scratch. These are not defects - they are part of the character of a natural material.
Note: rattan is a natural material and can develop small burrs. Take care that these do not catch on skin or clothing. Burrs can be trimmed away with scissors or a craft knife.
