Its presence is heavy yet refined, more like an object of art than a simple vessel. The stand is crafted in Seki City, Gifu, a town known for bladesmithing, by Sugiyama Seisakusho. Skilled artisans with over 20 years of experience finish each piece by hand, from welding to chamfering. Weighing approx. 1,700g, it provides stability so it won’t tip easily, even if a cat or a robot vacuum bumps into it. The bowl is porcelain Mino ware from Tajimi, Gifu. With a diameter of 14.5cm and depth of 4.5cm, it holds 500ml and sits perfectly on the 15cm stand height, allowing cats to drink naturally without straining their necks. Porcelain resists absorbing water, is removable, and is microwave & dishwasher safe — combining hygiene with convenience for daily use. What do you focus on in materials and process?

We use solid iron, a natural material with a rugged yet warm character. Everything is handmade, but welding is the most delicate step. Even a small difference in sound or flow can make it weak. That’s why we always pursue “welding that balances strength and beauty.”

Is this your first time making products for cats?

Yes, it is. We asked ourselves: what kind of furniture would let cats and owners feel safe? Since iron can pose risks if not treated, we chamfered all edges to make them smooth and safe. This way, the stand is not only durable and secure but also visually beautiful. We want to continue creating pieces that bring both peace of mind and elegance.
