The color of stone,
after rain.
A pale color that could be blue, could be green - the color of a stone.
HM BOWL in Asagi is covered in the soft speckling of unofu glaze, with amber showing only along the rim, where the glaze runs thin. Fill it with water and the color at the bottom deepens, just a little.
The form is the same as the nine-color HM BOWL. The 14 cm height developed with a veterinarian, and the base in solid walnut. Everything that makes it kind to a cat stays; what changed is the color and the surface.
It comes to you as its own bowl, separate from the nine.

A white haze, drawn by unofu glaze.
Unofu is a glaze long used in Japanese pottery, named for the small white deutzia blossom. As it fires, fine white speckles rise to the surface and the bowl comes out looking as though a haze has settled over it.
How the speckles fall depends on the temperature inside the kiln and the thickness of the glaze, so no two are ever patterned the same. The amber at the rim was not drawn there either. It is simply what this glaze does.

Asagi, between blue and green.
Asagi is the pale blue that appears when indigo is dyed lightly. The name comes from the color of a young spring onion leaf, and it holds the faintest green inside the blue.
This bowl behaves the same way: blue in soft light, greener when the sun reaches it. That drift between blue and green is what the old color name describes.
Over it, the white speckling of the unofu glaze lays a thin haze - settling Asagi into something as quiet as stone.

14 cm, so they drink in a natural posture.
A bowl on the floor pulls the neck down, and over time that asks something of the body each time a cat drinks. At 14 cm, kittens through to senior cats can drink standing naturally.

Shallow and wide, so whiskers stay clear.
At 14.5 cm across and 4.5 cm deep, the dish is shallow and open: the face does not sink in, and whiskers stay off the rim. It takes a small, daily stress out of drinking.

A generous 500 ml. Easy on days out.
At around 500 ml there is room to spare for a long day alone, or for a cat who drinks a lot. It suits households with one or two cats. It also holds about 200 g of dry food, so it works as a food bowl.

Around 1,300 g. Steady, hard to tip.
The weight is real enough that a cat bumping into it will not send it over, which means less worry about water on the floor.

The bowl lifts out to wash.
Porcelain does not absorb water, so it stays hygienic. The bowl lifts off the base to wash, and is dishwasher and microwave safe. The wooden base only needs a firmly wrung cloth.

Solid walnut and Mino ware, quietly in tune.
The base is solid walnut from Akita, hand-finished by craftsmen in Hida Takayama. The warmth of the wood catches the stone-like glaze from below. It is the base that keeps the Asagi bowl from reading as cold.

Set it beside CHALICE / Asagi.
There is also a food bowl finished in the same glaze: CHALICE / Asagi. Match the dish for food to the dish for water and your cat's table becomes one scene.

Set the whole feeding spot, not just the bowl.
For the place the bowls sit, there is FIKA / food mat.
Solid oak framing ceramic tile, sized to hold a food bowl and a water bowl side by side.
Spills wipe away - nothing to wash. At around 2.2 kg it stays put when a cat steps on it, and the wooden frame has a recess on each side so it is easy to lift.
Make your cat's eating place part of the room.

The other nine colors.
HM BOWL also comes in nine Japandi colors, where Japanese shadow meets Scandinavian softness.
Kinu, Tonoko, Mizugaki, Shiraai, Ayame, Keshizumi, Harizuri, Shiratsuchi and Sumiguro.
Choose by your cat's coat, or by the colors of your room.

Care & Cautions
- Due to the nature of the material, you may see unevenness in the glaze, black specks, or pinholes (tiny needle-point holes in the glazed surface). These occur naturally when components in the clay and glaze react to the heat of firing, and are not dirt or defects.
- Every piece is handmade, so there are slight individual differences in shape, dimensions and color even between identical items.
- Ceramic products can crack or chip if subjected to a strong impact.
- Please do not use a piece that is chipped or cracked, as it may cause an unexpected accident.
- Do not scrub hard with metal scourers, abrasive cleansers or hard sponges, as this can scratch the surface.
- When placing the bowl directly on the floor, we recommend using a mat, as the floor may be scratched.
- Wipe the wooden stand clean with a cloth dampened and wrung out firmly.
- The wooden stand may develop cracks over time as the wood ages.
- Product photos are edited to be as close to the actual colors as possible, but the color you see may differ depending on your monitor settings and room lighting.
- Specifications and appearance are subject to change without notice for the purpose of improvement.
